Pinterest Showcase
With 150 million users, Pinterest, the scrapbooking style social platform is still small in the grand scheme of social apps, but it has several important advantages.
Did you know that 93% of Pinterest users shop online, and purchase products?
Pinterest is the second fastest growing social network behind SnapChat, and it is true that Pinterest does drive sales.
Pinterest Showcase – What Is It?
By now, you may have noticed something new on your favourite Pinterest profiles. In December, Pinterest launched their Showcase feature allowing brands to highlight up to five different boards and/or buyable pins on a rotating carousel that is viewable on both web and mobile.
The Showcase Feature sits at the top of your Pinterest page so that it is the very first thing that people see. This allows you to craft your brand’s story using your top five boards. For example, here at MAC5 we specialize in digital marketing so for our showcase boards we choose the MAC5 Blog board, Marketing, Web Design, Blogging and Social Media Tips because those boards represent our brand better than our Photography or Travel boards. All of your boards are still visible beneath the Showcase rotation the same as before, this just puts the emphasis on what you want to talk about.
Pinterest Showcase is very cool and best of all, really simple to set up.
Pinterest Showcase – Set Up
To start, visit your profile page on the web application. While you can view the Showcase on mobile you need to edit on a computer.
Choose your first board or Buyable pin by clicking on “Slot 1” and making your selection. Remember that you want to be featuring your top content here and by “top content” I am referring to the stuff you really want people to see. For mobile users with smaller screens, bear in mind, the Showcase feature might push pins down to the area beneath the fold aka the edge of the screen which would require the viewer to scroll down. If you’re worried you’ll lose the viewer, as always, put your best stuff up first!
Seasonal Features
Once you’ve selected the boards that you want to showcase you’re good to go! The boards will then rotate on their own – this is especially handy for seasonal sales. Why not even try creating featured seasonal boards just to catch the viewers attention?
Remember, businesses that take advantage of seasonal interests, including products, DIY projects, travel and recipes, can inspire people while they’re in a holiday mindset, ready to take action. While we’re on the topic, what about Trending News? If a certain idea or event starts trending online, why not try and catch some of that limelight? Pinterest Showcase can help. Promote what’s hot right now and reap the rewards !
