Linked In – the Professionals social media platform – right? Well…
Just an observation here but over the weekend, I was doing my usual scroll through #LinkedIn catching up on things (as you do…) and something really caught my eye. Looking through profiles, I was amazed at the number of obvious typos and spelling errors!
Case Study #1 : Banker seeking new position as a BAKNER – Seriously?!
In general, when talking with clients, I’m surprised by a recurring theme 1) Many have a Linked In profile (Yay!) 2) The majority have no idea when they last checked it. Scary folks, just plain scary and it’s not even Halloween yet!
Case Study #2 : Successful Realtor with an Airline Engineer profile (prev. job) ??
If you view Linked In as a professional #SM platform used by many job seekers and prospective employers (as you should), then seriously, don’t you think it warrants more than a casual 5 min. glance now & then? Ask yourself this, would you send out a half-assed Resume full of typos applying for a job? Not if you want to get the position!!
Set up as a Company…?
Linked In also offers Company pages and the ability to post updates as the Company – these are a great way for a small business to reach out for more B2B connections and for promoting new product launches etc.. Cool eh? Okay, so let me ask you this – When was the last time you checked your Company Page ? I rest my case, right there.
Homework: Take 15-mins this week to review your Profile – don’t be a sad Linked In Stat., Please :)
